In April 1992, religious leaders in Sudan's Southern Kordofan region - who were "publicly supported at the highest government level" - issued a fatwa, which stated:

"An insurgent who was previously a Muslim is now an apostate; and a non-Muslim is a non-believer standing as a bulwark against the spread of Islam, and Islam has granted the freedom of killing both of them."

This fatwa appears in a 1995 Report to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights by the U.N.'s Special Rapporteur on Sudan, Dr. Gaspar Biro. (ECOSOC, E/CN.4/1996/62, para.97a) This religious text gives the traditional definition of a harbi (someone living in the Dar al-harb, the "region of war"), an infidel who has not been subjected by jihad, and therefore whose life and property -according to classical texts of Islamic jurists - is thus forfeited to any Muslim. (It also gives a definition of an apostate who can be killed - the cases of Salman Rushdie in 1989, Farag Foda in 1992, and Taslima Nasreen in 1994 are other examples where the death sentence was decreed) (article)

Nasir Ahmad Nasir Al Bahri, also known as Abu Jandal, Osama Bin Laden bodyguard, told the FBI that while the United States has weapons, it does not have men of conviction, like al-Qaida.

"Our duties included preaching for the ideology and the cause, rousing the people and getting prepared to carry out martyrdom operations," he stated. "I believe that the United States is heading for its demise. As to the future of al-Qaida, I believe that it has found what it wanted. It can now melt into a new caldron and a new giant would be reborn, of which al-Qaida would be a part. Many of the Islamic world leaders would join it and the confrontation with the United States would be inevitable. And, al-Qaida would not be the leader, but a vanguard army." (article)

This is the same vanguard army that Mary Habeck spoke of. This is the same strategy that has been used throughout history, to advance as peaceful with spearheads of violence.

So it is with this backdrop, as Islamists plan the demise of all non-Muslims and directly targets Christians and Jews, San Luis Coastal USD (SLCUSD) is heralding in Islam by asking my sons to study this "peaceful" religion of Islam, to engage in activities such as "assume you are a Muslim soldier." (see Exhibit B) "Islam" is not a country but a religion spread across many nations. If it is so peaceful, why are there Muslim soldiers? Why are they "fighting in battle?"  What is the cause they fight for? The "peace" of Islam? This is worse than asking Jewish children prior to the holocaust to imagine they are Nazi soldiers, to believe their beliefs are justified and peaceful, even as the showers are being built in concentration camps to kill their mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers.

If Hitler rose to power again today, would teachers strive to hide the anti-Semitism, hide the concentration camps (just as they tried to hide images of the WTC), promote Nazi beliefs as peaceful and fun and require children to imagine they are Nazis? Asking my son to imagine he is fighting for Allah goes beyond a violation of religious freedom. Other mental exercises include imagining he is on a pilgrimage to Mecca, an act of worship to Allah. SLCUSD asking my son to embrace a religion whose holy books containing verses to kill my son and our people is promoting the hatred written into the root of the religion. Is my son to repeat the words that are recited as Nick Berg, Daniel Pearl and Paul Johnson were beheaded? Will this help him to "understand" Islam? To understand Muslim children who are play acting the beheadings with applause and shouting glory to Allah?

The holy books of ISLAM, the Quran, the Hadith and the Sira all demand our deaths as Muhammad is presented as the perfect man whose methods are to be followed. Those methods include hiding weapons in mosques and plotting Islam’s world dominance through peace spearheaded with violence. Legitimate and recognized Islamic sheikhs have issued fatwas against us. Though America is filled with "moderate" Muslims, (Muslims without actual belief in the holy books), the ROOT of Islam remains the same, DEATH TO MY PEOPLE and I find it reprehensible that my children are being led to embrace such a belief system that openly proclaims hatred, death, beheading, torture, cutting off our hands, heads and fingers. Since SLCUSD has confirmed intentions of permitting teachers to ask children to "imagine they are Muslim soldiers" and the textbook gives a whitewashed, fanciful version of Islam with many Muslim beliefs stated as fact (see Exhibit B) , SLCUSD has promoted Islam with holy books that inculcate hatred.

Dennis Prager, columnist, radio host and lecturer, wrote "Why Arab/Muslims anti-Semites are worse than the Nazis. He writes,

"We Jews have reasons to worry because the last time a civilization declared such hatred against Jews, what ensued was the most organized and monumental evil in history, the Holocaust. We hoped that Nazi-type hatred would never reappear. But it has. In fact, in two ways, Arab/Muslim anti-Semitism is more frightening.

"First, while both Nazi and the Arab/Muslim anti-Semites have used closed societies with their controlled press to promote horrific lies about Jews, the Nazis hid their murder of Jews from the German public. They did not have confidence that enough Germans would support the murder of Jewish men, women and children. The Arab/Muslim anti-Semites, however, have no such problem. Those who kill Jews in Israel are public celebrities.

"The second more frightening aspect of Arab/Muslim Jew-hatred is that many of these haters do not value their own lives. Nazis did.

"We Jews have reasons to worry because...the psychological and political need of Westerners to believe that Islamic societies are, with the exception of "a few extremists," tolerant societies."

In the Sudan, it has been reported that women have been asked if they are Christian and if they respond yes, they are raped, tortured, their breasts have been cut off and they are left to bleed to death by men shouting glory to Allah. Atrocities like this continuously fill the news and millions of Christians are slaughtered horrendously. DO NOT ask my son to imagine he is a Muslim soldier as this carnage is carried out today by Muslim soldiers who claim justification of terrorism through Islam’s holy books! Do not ask him to repeat the words, even in demonstration, that Islamists recite as they slaughter our Christian brothers and sisters worldwide!

As the principal at my son's school has confirmed intentions of permitting teachers to ask children to "imagine they are Muslim soldiers" and the like, SLCUSD has violated their own codes of violation #15: "Cause, attempt to cause, threaten to cause, or participate in an act of hate violence as defined in Subdivision e of Section 33032.5" [Education Code 48900.3]

Moreover, California’s new hate bill has already passed the House and the Senate and is expected to be signed by Governor Schwarzenegger by September 1st. With it’s implementation, SLCUSD will be in violation of SB-1234 (pdf download), and the first lawsuit filed should be about advancing Islam, which contains doctrines of hate and torture. SLCUSD is advancing hate and bias, even if they isolate and skip those sections. Islam: A Simulation boasts that Muslims are "the fastest growing group in the world today. More than 40 Islamic countries have populations with between 70% to 100% Muslims." Christians-turned-Muslim have participated in terrorist activities against America including Ziad Jarrah, who hijacked flight 93. How many have joined mosques believing Islam is the peaceful religion they learned about in public schools, beginning 12 years ago, from Houghton Mifflin textbooks whose editor has admitted accepting contributions from Muslim groups like SoundVision, and whose president/CEO was previously a teacher in Iran (99% Muslim)?

Must we present Muhammad's claimed spiritual awakening as FACT to impressionable American children?  Do we present his slaughtering raids as interesting and fun practices of imagination for children to embrace? Only if we want our sons and daughters to share a jail cell with John Walker Lindh.  Instead of a jail cell, he should receive an "A" in today's American classroom.  After all, he could turn in his whole ordeal with the Taliban as an expansive, though late, class project.  He did what his teachers taught him.  He lived what they told him to assume. 

Our children are not being told that they are learning "moderate Islam" or "fantasy Islam" or "pretend Islam"; they are being told that real Islam is a fanciful, peaceful loving religion worthy of embrace that should be shared and celebrated, even though this version directly contradicts all the holy books of Islam. When indoctrination tactics are objected to, we are told that it will have no effect on our children. But as the 9/11 Commission Report documents, schools (shock) do have an effect on how children think and behave, as Pakistan schools "produced large numbers of half-educated young men with no marketable skills but with deeply held Islamic views." (pg 63). Those views were ISLAMIC views, the proliferation of terrorism. Bin Laden didn't hijack Islam, he just took it seriously.

Even though the 9/11 Commission Report repeatedly attributes terrorist activity to phrases such as "Islamist terrorism," they have made it clear that "Islam is not our enemy," and I agree. The majority of American Muslims have no idea what the intent of Islam is and to think of a Muslim being persecuted, especially a child, is a hideous thought indeed. But the intent and principality of Islam is undeniable and the 9/11 Commission has clearly recognized and identified its culpability.

Rep Shelley Berkley made a close analogy at the Diplomacy & Counterterrorism hearing,

"We had representatives of the State Department sitting right where you are, talking about this wonderful friendship and these great partners with us against the war on terrorism, I thought I was living in a parallel universe when I heard that nonsense...We support nations that support individuals that do not have our best interests at heart, quite the contrary, they’re our biggest enemies in the world and we dress them up and we take them out on a date and pretend that they’re our lovers and they are NOT." –Rep. Shelley Berkley (larger excerpt)

During the Diplomacy and Counterterrorism hearing with Lee Hamilton of the 9/11 Commission, Committee Chairman Henry Hyde said,

"We must remember that our enemies seek neither our defeat nor a negotiated compromise but our annihilation and they will exploit any opportunity, target any innocent, to achieve their aims."

Academia’s response has been to lump and label all true believers of any religion as "fundamentalists" and condemn them. "Moderates" are applauded, but a "moderate" actually means someone who studies the religion without true belief in the holy books of that religion. Therefore, Christian "fundamentalists" are condemned along with Islamists blowing up buildings and screaming jihad, while moderates (atheists) are taught as the only rational religious group, regardless of religious identity. Thus, atheists/pluralists/humanists are using Islam to attack all faith and violate religious freedom.

Atheists/humanists/pluralists are using these atrocities to gain ground against all religion. In the textbook used in our school district, Modern World History, Patterns of Interaction, the only belief held out as factual is the belief of Karen Armstrong, claiming that religion is manmade. Armstrong, a pluralist guru, said in a NYC theology seminar that she joined a convent aspiring to be a saint, but couldn’t keep her mind focused on God for more than two minutes and that prayer was impossible. So she quit and has since written 15 books, many outlining her own religious beliefs as pluralism while condemning Christianity and blaming her experience as a nun for her suicidal thoughts. She worked on a documentary on Jesus which was to begin with a statue of Jesus being blown up, an idea that seemed to delight her. She hoped to prove conclusively in this film that Christianity was "bonkers" She has embraced "pluralism" which she describes as her "spiritual journey" into herself, thus adding corroboration that pluralism is, in fact, a religion in itself. Karen Armstrong’s pluralist beliefs are the epitome of academia’s religion. Armstrong redefines religion as "not about belief" and thereby attacks belief under the guise of atheist "rationality," applauding moderates (religion without belief) and trashing fundamentalists (with belief) coming to the conclusion that religion is all right as long as you don’t believe it. This is the most perverted form of religious freedom imaginable and it’s being inflicted on our children daily.

Religious freedom is our Constitutional right. Forcing pluralism and promoting Islam, asking our children to imagine they are Muslim soldiers, embrace the faith and learn Islamic beliefs presented as fact are violations of what our founding fathers courageously fought to protect us from. 

"Certain ceremonial references to God and religion in our Nation are the inevitable consequence of the religious history that gave birth to our founding principles of liberty. It would be ironic indeed if this Court were to wield our constitutional commitment to religious freedom so as to sever our ties to the traditions developed to honor it." Justice O’Connor, Elk Grove United Sch. Dist. v. Newdow, 542 U.S. __ (2004)

In closing, I have no desire to hurt Muslims or atheists, I have friends in both camps. People should be allowed to believe what they want to in peace. But when you try to inflict our children with lies and religious assaults to our own faith, it’s time to object. If any faith should be afforded in public school, it should be the foundation of our nation, with Christian-Judeo principles. It is our heritage, our culture and our birthright. I would not go to Africa and demand they cease prayer to African gods. I am appalled that we are being forced to silence our faith upon which this nation was founded on because it offends others, (while objections to offensive pornography is ignored). Our children are being mandated to embrace Islam and pluralism/atheism.  This is not religious freedom. This is fascism.

One day this nation will ask my sons to risk their lives to fight for this nation. I ask you, what has America become, and what is left to fight to protect? Do not ask Christian sons and daughters to defend this nation if it continues to forcibly teach them there is no God and to recite prayers to Allah. I pray you reconsider these activities before there is a national revolt. There MUST be something left to fight for!
