If you are joining us late, it's not necessary to read it all before you join us at the end of the thread. Pray about it. Read a lot or read a little every day, whatever God leads, but join us at the end as well, we would love to hear your struggles, thoughts, victories, etc! But whatever you do, join us in prayer, pray for us, if you're doing this workshop, we're praying for you! We're all under the same prayer covering! WELCOME! :hearts:

PREVIOUSLY NAMED "My Arrogantly Exclusive Club" -
If you don't have 10 lbs to lose, go gain 10 lbs and maybe we'll allow you to join. j/k but seriously...

This club is different than any other club. The focus is not about "I need to change, I hate the way I look" <----a negative message that will only lead to wanting to eat, but about learning to appreciate who we are in His eyes. All that matters is what God thinks about us, not anyone else, and God's passion is for us if we are His.

1. Prayer. There will be a strong prayer covering over this group. If you don't walk closely with Him, get ready, you're about to.

2. Trusting our bodies and the system that God designed and gave us to tell us when, what and how much to eat for optimal health.

3. Positive attitudes - one of the biggest stumblers of the enemy is the attitude of "I'm not good enough as I am" and "I need to change" and "I hate myself" - throw that garbage out the window right now. We are wonderfully made!

4. No restrictions (unless you have med limitations). We will be eating the best of the best, as much as we want when we want (honestly hungry), we will learn to listen to the God-given signal of "I'm satisfied" and stop.

So, got 10 lbs to lose? If not, there's the door, come back when ya do...

(to be continued)

yeah but I'm a soon-to-be 10 lbs lighter nut :yahoo:

so who's weighing in with me?

I just read a book called "Weigh Down" years ago by Gwen Shamblin that was awesome and I've kept the principles. They probably have it at any library if anyone is interested in reading deeper. This will be light principles.

Weighing in tomorrow morning...anyone with me?

As long as I don't have to post my weight, I'm in

I have that book and have read it. I have several books on healthy eating, just need to utilize the principles.

Here's to being 10 pounds less by....well, soon.

COOL! :good: THAT ROCKS! so you know what I'm talking about and can share your experienced sage advice! WOOT!

And of course you don't have to disclose your weight. Just mark or make a note what it is and if you want, discuss how much you've lost.

In a nutshell, just to get started and expanded on later, it's MOSTLY about prayer (IMO) because without the Lord walking with us every step of the way as we learn new habits, it's useless (again IMO, but everything is IMO so...)

It's just like the Israelites leaving Egypt (place of bondage) and depending on God daily to lead them to the Promised Land, but we won't be complaining so we should arrive before 40 years...

I'll be posting daily short posts and hopefully hear feedback about people's lives, how they're doing, insights they've had, etc.

So many scriptures go along with it. For instance, being alert to what makes us self-destruct is huge. I've watched myself and noticed when I tend to overeat, it's because I've had negative thoughts, be they anger, guilt, negative self-talk, there are SO MANY possible triggers. So that scripture that says,
"Whatever is true, whatever is lovely, whatever is worthy of good report, meditate on these things."
Recent issues that have come up with [a different website] and my anger at being lied about has caused me to have to refocus on Him A LOT. Also a buildup of the slightest things can have an effect, even yelling at people internally as they cut me off on the highway, I think, has a negative effect. It's like the darts I'm shooting at them (though they don't know it) come back and hit me. If I shoot off enough of them, they drag me down and I can start feeling self-destructive later on.

Things like this I hope to focus on and hear about from others. But for now and starting tomorrow after the weigh-in, the WHOLE diet is

1. Pray.

2. Trust in God and His design to let us know when to eat. Eat only when hungry (actually feeling hunger pains) and stop when full (which can take a few minutes to get the signal.)

With that we can start

Did I miss any key principles Gone?

ALSO: if you're reading this and not comfortable admitting you're with us cause bruce called me a nut :haha: go ahead and resign up under a different name if you prefer to be anonymous. We don't mind!

I'm excited! I haven't been motivated for a while and I've had so many unusual emotional situations lately that yep, I need to refocus on Him purposefully.

Hope you come with us! It was a blast years ago. A lot of bonding and praying for each other. It was blessed, I pray God blesses this as well. Even if you don't join us, please pray for us! It really is all about Him. :hearts:

I've already lost 12 lbs. in last 2 mos. Does that disqualify me?
I still have more to lose!
Like Gone, I am NOT posting my weight! :swoon:

Okay, don't yell at me for taking this out of context cause this is my Scripture for this journey.

"He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30 NASB

LOL I like that scripture for this journey as long as you gain spiritually along the way. I'm not proud, I'll post my starting weight, if I can find my scales.

My scales are crying out for mercy!!! Wow, didn't realize that I had gained more than I thought

I was reading late last night and this Scripture jumped out at me.

Psa 78:18 And they tested God in their heart By asking for the food of their fancy.

Psa 78:19 Yes, they spoke against God: They said, "Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?

Psa 78:20 Behold, He struck the rock, So that the waters gushed out, And the streams overflowed. Can He give bread also? Can He provide meat for His people?"

Psa 78:21 Therefore the LORD heard [this] and was furious; So a fire was kindled against Jacob, And anger also came up against Israel,

Psa 78:22 Because they did not believe in God, And did not trust in His salvation.

Psa 78:23 Yet He had commanded the clouds above, And opened the doors of heaven,

Psa 78:24 Had rained down manna on them to eat, And given them of the bread of heaven.

Psa 78:25 Men ate angels' food; He sent them food to the full.

Psa 78:26 He caused an east wind to blow in the heavens; And by His power He brought in the south wind.

Psa 78:27 He also rained meat on them like the dust, Feathered fowl like the sand of the seas;

Psa 78:28 And He let [them] fall in the midst of their camp, All around their dwellings.

Psa 78:29 So they ate and were well filled, For He gave them their own desire.

Psa 78:30 They were not deprived of their craving; But while their food [was] still in their mouths,

Psa 78:31 The wrath of God came against them, And slew the stoutest of them, And struck down the choice [men] of Israel.

So....pray for me that I am satisfied with what God has given me and only desire more of HIM not more of the world!!!

AMEN!!!! Thanks Gone!! :thanks:

14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well…
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You. (Psalm 139)

First of al, the MOST important thing is prayer. I really implore each one of us to pray every morning for the whole group. God being with us on this is huge, we can do all things in Christ, apart from Him I fall on my face every time.

It’s hard to believe we can eat chocolate, ice cream, pancakes if we really want them. Denying ourselves a treat once in a while actually backfires if we're too ridgid. If you’re like me, I used to stay on a diet for a while but eventually the lines got blurred and before I knew it I was off my diet and feeling horribly guilty and self-condemning, which only lead to wanting to console myself with more "comfort food."

What we need to learn is to trust God’s design, our bodies. Listen to it. Wait for the hunger. That can take a really long time if you’re just starting out! When I did a workshop with this years ago, many of us had to wait DAYS to feel actual hunger pains! That’s because we’ve learned to eat on a schedule, not when hungry. So our bodies need a little time to adjust as well, to being listened to. But it does come back.

I was afraid to eat an occasional indulgence, I was so used to feeling guilty before if I did. But usually it only takes a bite or two of chocolate to feel that satisfied feeling, we just need to listen.

Do you think that’s nuts? Think you have too big of a problem with chocolate? Imagine eating nothing but chocolate for a day. You start out with breakfast - chocolate. You got out with co-workers for lunch. As they order a hamburger, you get chocolate. Afternoon snack? Chocolate. By the time you sit down to your cocoa dinner of JUST CHOCOLATE, everyone else is eating spagetti or steak and you get chocolate.

Sound pretty sickening? That’s because your body WILL TELL YOU what is needed. We have just been trained not to listen for it.

So this is all about getting back to what God designed. And if you have trouble knowing at first when to stop and start, ask the Holy Spirit to help you. We all are praying for each other and for you, God is intently aware, because we are working to master obedience to Him. I’m not sure when the line gets to gluttony, even Christ was accused of being a glutton at one point. So I don’t know when I’ve crossed that line, (my birthday party is a pretty good bet) but we want to conform our minds to Him, and this is a daily walk ever closer to that goal.

Praying for you! I hope you’re praying for me and all of us as well!

(this will be more personal in the future, it was a crazy morning this morning, sorry
