Islam Induction in

American Schools Recruit Muslim Soldiers
Thomas More Law Center recently filed a lawsuit due to the promotion of Islam in California schools, yet most Americans don’t realize this is a nationwide issue. “Assume you are a Muslim soldier…” a textbook exercise, is being defended by its publisher, Houghton Mifflin. Their textbook "Across the Centuries" has been purchased by school districts all over the nation, including Jose Padilla/Abdullah Al Muhajir's old elementary school in Chicago, which has been using it for years. Jose Padilla is the American who converted to Islam and was accused of plotting to employ a dirty bomb.
John Walker Lindh was in elementary school in California when Houghton Mifflin was the ONLY California approved and funded textbook in use. Reports often reflect John's devotion to Islam at the age of 16, but the Associated Press reported in Dec.of 2001 that by the age of 15 John Walker was already patterning his life after the Quran, making decisions based upon the dictates of Islam, showing his interest developed prior to his high school years. What precipitated his choices? Could it be a textbook which glorifies and emphasizes Islam to young impressionable minds?
Our Dept. of Defense is searching for other Americans who have converted to Islam and are fighting for the terrorists. KVEC news reports statistics that Islam will be the number one religion in Southern California by the year 2015. The New York Times reports "Islam is said to be the nation's fastest-growing religion, fueled by immigration, high birth rates and widespread conversion. One expert estimates that 25,000 people a year become Muslims in this country; some clerics say they have seen conversion rates quadruple since Sept. 11."
Houghton Mifflin’s defense to the outcry has been problematic. Claims that multicultural organizations previewed the textbook prior to publication are collapsing. Christian Educators Association International denies endorsement of the textbook as does Hadassah, a Judaism organization, both named by Houghton Mifflin. The textbook publisher has also resorted to piecing together phrases in their textbook that are paragraphs apart in an effort to appear balanced in describing Islam’s conquests. In addition, Houghton Mifflin makes outright false claims in their defense, stating text does not refer to Muhammad as “the prophet Muhammad.” In actuality, Muhammad is given the title of prophet over 40 times and one of the section headings is “The Life of the Prophet.” Multiple quotes can be found at www.BlessedCause.com.
In California, the questionable direction of the textbook is coupled with the State Standards of California [“History-Social Science Framework for California Public Schools http://www.cde.ca.gov/cdepress/hist-social-sci-frame.pdf. ] These state standards openly oppose religious passion blaming it for fanaticism and war. Carefully written, the State Standards have determined to limit the passion of religion, to teach children to be non-responsive and apathetic and to compromise their beliefs. California’s state standards, along with Houghton Mifflin textbooks, are in effect saying, "This is a religion and this is how you look at it." Teachers now have license to lead children to determine "rational thinking", as Edugods determine what is rational. "Critical thinking" means the school is teaching our children to criticize our beliefs per public school viewpoint. Simultaneously, our children receive very tweaked versions of other beliefs. Islam is not fact based, as openly admitted the goal is to present the positive attributes only.
So equipped, teachers and textbooks now have the license to scrutinize religious beliefs with children. The State standards cite the need for: “skeptical withholding of assent about the truth of a statement until it can be critically evaluated… The history–social science classroom [religion] is an especially appropriate setting for developing such skills.” Christianity and Judaism have been deceptively scrutinized and rewritten in public schools, while Islam and atheism have been glorified. California claims the need to teach such skills to children yet has failed to recognize the overt propaganda expressed in its chosen textbook “Across the Centuries” which overtly promotes Islam. Does California and other states purchasing Houghton Mifflin’s textbook intend to fill the ranks of Muslim soldiers? To date, parents have not been able to “opt out” their children from this hideous endeavor as the textbook is state approved. California’s Governor Davis has ignored pleas to address this situation, as have Diane Feinstein and Delaine Eastin.
Teachers could not possibly grasp in full different religious beliefs and are not qualified to lead our children to determine the validity. Children today are being swayed toward Islam or atheism through these textbooks. These standards grossly betray the religious freedom of all Americans nationwide and must be stopped. These continuing practices must be seen as a matter of national security and liberal local government must be overstepped with regards to these flagrant abuses.
